Editing the Fixtures Diary

What data goes where and what it means

This diary is different from the Golf Genius competitions list. This is all diary events, all competitions (Golf Genius ones & non Golf Genius events), it can be social events, meetings and anything else your community need to be aware of in the calendar.

Creating a new Fixture

To add a new Event.

From the Admin Dashboard. Click Fixtures Calendar. Add New - or Edit existing

How to bulk update all events for the season

Create a Excel Spreadsheet with the following columns

Event Name: The title name of competition or meeting or social event. Keep relatively short as some people will be looking at it on their phone.

Event Excerpt: This shows up on the events list page as short description

Event Description: This only shows when you click an event on the web-site or on your phone it will show up more detailed description of the event

Event Venue Name: Looked up from the uploaded CSV of venues, which all have address and web site populated. New venues may have to be edited to include accurate address or website.

Event Start Date: THE KEY THING IS TO USE YYYY-MM-DD format for date - the import process works best when dates are YYYY-MM-DD. Must be dashes as separator not slashes.

Event End Date: THE KEY THING IS TO USE YYYY-MM-DD format for date - the import process works best when dates are YYYY-MM-DD. Must be dashes as separator not slashes.

Event Category: Used to show only events by category - eg on Mens page diary will only show Mens events.

Event Website: Use Golf Genius link once known so people can register and see event leaderboard easily from calendar.

All Day Event: Set to true for all day, if set to false use event start time and event end time.

TIMEZONE: Always set to Europe/London

HIDE FROM EVENT LISTINGS: Generally always set to false
STICKY IN MONTH VIEW: Default to false but set to true for important events
EVENT SHOW MAP LINK: If venue is in the list of venues with address and/or longitude/latitude - set to yes. All affiliated clubs have been pre-populated with this. New outside county venues may have to be added.
EVENT SHOW MAP: Set to true generally as default if venue details are accurate.
ALLOW COMMENTS: Set to False - to prevent spam.
ALLOW TRACKBACKS AND PINGBACKS: Set to False - to prevent spam.

Events List

Contact us if you need a CSV template or Excel template to use.

Once you have your spreadsheet ready for uploading several events or uploading a full season.

You can upload all events several times, it will update existing events with new dates or times if changed.

IMPORT EVENTS FROM CSV

Select CSV File

To upload your spreadsheet, save from Excel as CSV (UTF) format.

Upload the CSV into the web-site.

Choose Content Type Events

Then Click Preview to match the column headings from the CSV file to the column headings on the website for import.

THEN MAKE SURE Column names in the web-site match the correct column names from the CSV file.

Then click Import All.

All events should take about 5 minutes for 100 events to import.

Once imported they will appear in the events view.

If the import is incorrect, delete the events from the events view, fix the CSV file for the event data that is wrong and re-import CSV file again. It will overwrite same events, so it will not create duplicates.
